Fandom: The Avengers (Marvel Movies), Pacific Rim (2013)
Summary: The first one shows up about a year after the Chitauri invasion. It takes Hulk, Iron Man, SHIELD and the Army two days to take the thing down. (A story about accepting your limitations, overcoming your insecurities, and what it means to win a war.)
This is beautifully written, and turns a movie about giant-robots-punching-monsters into a story about people doing what they think is right, or necessary, and occasionally managing to do both. There are so many threads here about friendship and freedom and heroism and the author brings them together brilliantly.
(It's tagged with a background Tony/Steve relationship, but it is not at all the focus of the story.)
